About Boda Borg and Questing

A Quest is a set of between two and four challenge rooms, connected by a theme. You can break out of prison, find out what’s happening at Area 51, or solve the riddle of the Sphinx. When you start a challenge you won’t know what you’re supposed to do or what you’re not allowed to do, and each challenge has a very short time limit, so you should expect to fail…but then you can try again as many times as you like. We have over twenty Quests and you can try as many of them as you like, in any order that you like.

You can read more on the page This is Questing.

You have unlimited access to all the Quests during your visit, and you can try as many as you like. We tell new teams to expect to conquer 1-3 Quests in their first visit, but this is just an average and you don’t have to finish one Quest before trying another.

No. Each challenge has an exit door that is never locked. You can leave a challenge at any time, and for any reason.

Yes, we have free Wifi available. Just look for BodaBorgGuest; no password is required.

Plan your visit

We always recommend booking in advance to ensure you get to Quest. Even times that can normally be quiet may be fully booked for a private event.

It’s like going to a restaurant. If you have a reservation, you know you can get in. If you don’t have one, we’re happy to take you if we have space but we may not be able to.

Remember, you don’t lose anything by booking in advance; if your plans change and you need to adjust or cancel your reservation, just give us a call.

No. Paying in advance will speed up checking slightly, but it isn’t required. If you prefer to pay on site, choose the “Pay at venue” option at the end of online checkout.

Note: groups of 20+ will need to pay a deposit, and have a more formal cancellation policy. Please call or email us for more information.

Yes, there are a few different age restriction:

  • Kids age 7 & 8 can Quest but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (21+) at all times, including inside the Quests.
  • Kids age 9 to 11 may Quest on their own, but a responsible adult must be on site.
  • Kids age 12 and can be dropped off, unless it is a large (>10) group, in which case an adult must be on site.

Unfortunately not. Quests are built around teamwork, which often required at least three people working in a coordinated way in different parts of a challenge room. This means that it’s physically impossible for a team of two.

If you don’t have a third who can join you, there are sometimes Boda Borg meetups you might want to join in. Follow us on social media to learn more.

You need at least three people to Quest, but we can accommodate groups of 200+. Groups of more than five people will split up into smaller Quest teams. (A group of six people can choose to be one team or two.)

We strongly recommend sneakers and footwear must be close-toed and solidly attached to the foot (e.g. at least by a strap). If your footwear has a heel, it must be flat and not more than an inch in height. If you’re not sure if your footwear qualifies, please contact us; we’re happy to help.

For clothing, we recommend wearing something you can climb, crawl, and move around in.

You can store warm outerwear and sweaters, as well as personal belongings, in our complimentary lockers.

When you quest

You’re welcome to change teams within your group, but over the years we’ve learned that more teams think they’re going to do this than actually do. Once you get Questing, each team tends to build its own momentum and a lot of large groups end up deciding to keep their own team.

The shortest session is two hours. You can also purchase a four hour pass. However, if you feel like you’re done you are of course welcome to leave before your time is up. We recommend not doing less than two hours of Questing, especially if it’s your first time – it usually takes a little while to really get into it!

Everything that is part of the Quest is free to touch. But remember – you should never use force to solve a Quest, and anything that is fixed in place should stay in place. There are things in the Quests that are not part of the Quest and should never be touched. This could include things like fire alarms, fire sprinklers, and exit signs.

For groups and companies

Yes. Private events are popular options for company outings, as well as university and school trips. Please email us or call 781-321-1081 to learn more.

Absolutely! You can rent a conference room before, during, or after your Questing time. You can use our conference room for meetings, or just to have a private spot to gather, talk, regroup, or celebrate. We also offer catering for company outings. Please email us  or call us at 781-321-1081.

Accessibility

All of our green Quests (about a third of the total) are ADA accessible, as are all of our common areas, and we have accessible bathrooms on each floor. It would take a team more than one visit just to conquer our green Quests, so you can absolutely have a full Questing experience even if you’re just doing greens.

Red Quests are not ADA accessible, and often involve moderate physical activity, such as climbing on a structure or crawling on a padded surface. Black Quests are the most physically demanding, and can include serious obstacles.

We keep a detailed breakdown of sensitivity issues that our manager will be happy to review with you to make sure you know exactly which Quests will be safe and comfortable for you to take on. If you’d like to know more while planning your visit, please email or call us at 781-321-1081.

With 20 years of experience, Our Quests have proven to be very safe, compared to other activities such as bowling, trampoline jump houses, or outdoor playgrounds, for example. We have an excellent safety record given the millions of Guests who have visited locations over the years.

Still, Questing, by its very nature, is based on “reality.” It’s real people, inside real games. Just like in real life, “reality” means there is some risk to consider. You may be very active inside of Boda Borg Quests…crawling, climbing, jumping, pushing, running, etc. etc. You can certainly get bumps, bruises, scratches, or a twisted ankle, among other possible injuries. You need to be very observant as there may be holes in the floor, obstacles to avoid, and falls are possible. It’s possible to draw blood and require stitches, and it’s also possible that something could be broken or a more serious injury may occur, though these type occurrences are extremely rare.

– We always follow the current recommendations from authorities such as the CDC and the WHO (World Health Organization). We have hand sanitizers placed throughout the premises for Guests and staff. Door handles to our Quests and other frequently touched surfaces are sanitized daily.

– We recommend that all Guests wash their hands before entering the Quests. All Boda Borg locations have plenty of restrooms with sinks, warm water, and soap.

– If you are not feeling fully well, we ask that you stay home and reschedule your visit for another time. This also applies to our employees.

Inside the Quest rooms and in the corridors, the noise level can be quite high and there may be some noise if we have many visitors. However, it is usually a bit quieter in our reception and social areas. So, there is always somewhere to take a break if needed.

Most of our Quest rooms are not scary at all. However, there may be parts of some Quest rooms that could be perceived as a bit more frightening than others. If you’d like to avoid them, please swing by reception and we’ll let you know which ones to look out for.

Food and Drink

We have a variety of snacks and beverages available to be enjoyed in our Social Area. Snacks and drinks are not allowed in the Questing hallways or the Quests themselves. You can leave your snacks and drinks in a complimentary locker.
